The Golden Pass Classic

The Golden Mountain Pullman Express between Montreux and Zweisimmen, was introduced by "compagnie internationale des wagons-lits" from Paris in 1930. This is a luxury train in the Orient Express style. But due to worldwide economic crisis, this express train disappeared. Later, the GoldenPass Classic brings this legendary train back to life. The Golden Pass Classic has new Belle Epoque coaches and a wine cellar coach and a dining-car. You can find 1st class Belle Epoque coach, the 2nd class gastronomic coach and conventional coach. The GoldenPass Line trains are made up of panoramic first class cars and cars with large windows. In this train you can taste delicious dishes.

Catering


You can taste cold regional dish with a glass of wine or mineral water at your seat in the first class coaches. Reservation is compulsory to avail this service. Reservation is not necessary for those who do not want a meal served at their seat. Reservation is necessary to avail served meals at your seat, reservations are compulsory in the 1st and 2nd class. A surcharge is applicable for the same.

The three routes and the trains

From Interlaken to Lucerne

Interlaken, is the stating point of the journey with numerous excursions in the Jungfraujoch region. This luxury train, the GoldenPass Line passes along the shorelines of five lakes, which reflects the legendary peaks of the Bernese Alps. The last rampart before Lucerne, i.e. the Brünig Pass is crossed by using locomotives equipped with the rack railway system.

From Zweisimmen to Interlaken

In this route, the GoldenPass Line trains circulate with first class saloon coachs. These sits are excellent pivoting seats. The tourists can ensure optimum comfort in the GoldenPass Lounge coach. The Golden Pass Line Train always stops on the opposite side of the platform to the transfer passengers at Zweisimmen coming from Montreux. The first train was put into service between the stations Montreux and Zweisimmen.

This train line in Switzerland offers VIP seating at the front of the train giving a driver’s eye view. The first one is the "Panoramic" trains with 8 VIP seats in the front of the train offering the same view as of the driver and second one is the "Panoramic" trains without VIP seats. Both kinds of train have 1st and 2nd class carriages.

Route: (Zurich -) Lucerne - Brünig Pass - Interlaken - Zweisimmen - Montreux (- Geneva)

TThe Golden Pass Panoramic train connects Central Switzerland and Lake Geneva. Start your journey from Lucerne and cross the Brünig Pass and proceed to Interlaken. This train continues towards Gstaad, which is a fovourite playground. Then this train will take you to Montreux and finally arrive at shimmering Lake Geneva. It is recommended to do reservation of seats before your onset of journey in this train. The travellers can also enjoy the ride on GoldenPass Classic between Montreux and Zweisimmen. This train takes about 5 hours to covers the route from Montreaux to Lucerne. This takes you through a track of more than 240 km (149 miles) from the shores of Lake Lucerne, Interlaken down to the Montreux area or the 'Swiss Riviera' on Lake Geneva
